IGI (Association for the Italian Grid Infrastructure) has been established as successor of the GRID.IT project to provide long term sustainability for the Italian Grid. IGI will act as national coordinator for the Italian e-Infrastructure present in EGEE II. IGI is designated at the EU level as a Joint Research Unit, and is supported with funds from MIUR. IGI includes the main public resource providers (INFN, CNR, SPACI, ENEA, ICTP, INAF, INGV) and various computing centres.
