The mission of the NPACI is to advance science by creating a ubiquitous, continuous, and pervasive national computational infrastructure: the Grid. This infrastructure for the 21st century builds on dramatic advances in information technology to enable distributed research by interdisciplinary teams. In the NPACI vision, researchers collect data from experiments and digital libraries, analyze the data with models run on a computing grid, visualize and share those data over the Web, and publish the results for the scientific community in digital libraries.
