T-Platforms is also collaborating with PRACE and STRATOS workgroups on initiatives to spur development for the entire HPC marketplace in the European Union. The Hannover office team will be performing sales, manufacturing (assembly and quality assurance, pre-installation, testing and fine-tuning of systems), marketing, and customer support functions.
According to Vsevolod Opanasenko, CEO of T-Platforms, "T-Platforms established itself as the leading HPC company in Russia by offering a diverse portfolio of products and services with triple digit year over year growth. The systems supplied by T-Platforms exceed 50% of the overall combined performance of the Top 50 list of supercomputers in Russia and the CIS. Recently, T-Platforms successfully delivered systems in Singapore and at the well known Max Plank Institute in Germany, which sparked the initial expansion plans into the EMEA and Asia HPC markets. This is a very exciting time for T-Platforms."
"Vendors like T-Platforms that strive to provide HPC users with 'ease of everything', including technical and application domain expertise, are well positioned to compete effectively and grow their share of the HPC market", stated Earl Joseph, IDC programme vice president, High Performance Computing. "The European market for HPC systems historically has shown it is open to buying from whichever vendor best meets a buyer's requirements, no matter where in the world the vendor is based. T-Platforms' standards-based products, combined with its comprehensive menu of available applications, expertise, and services, should enable the company to find growing success in Europe among both experienced and new HPC sites."
"Our company has completed extensive research with end users throughout Europe to better understand the challenges faced by US HPC vendors trying to enter the European Union market, and we are resolute in building proper business processes, especially within the service and support structure, to meet European HPC pre-requisites and requirements", stated Alexander Perfahl, Director of European Operations for T-Platforms. "The Hannover office will be staffed in phases, with full service and support capabilities coming on-line later this year." T-Platforms will be hiring additional multinational staff for the Hannover team.
"We expect the market to show growth over our five-year forecast period, with the strongest areas of opportunity coming out of the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions", stated Addison Snell, CEO of InterSect360 Research, a market research and consulting firm dedicated to the HPC industry. "The EMEA region is particularly compelling because it is growing from a strong base, and there are few native companies serving those buyers. T-Platforms has a big opportunity to capitalize on growth in EMEA and Asia Pacific." |
