At ISC'09, Mellanox will provide its adapter and switch solutions to interconnect products from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), strategic technology suppliers, independent software vendors (ISVs) and end-users to create Europe's largest 40Gb/s network demonstration. Participating in the 40Gb/s ecosystem demonstration are AMD, Avago Technologies, DataDirect Networks, Dell, Emcore, Eurotech, Finisar, HP, LSI, Luxtera, Microsoft, NEC, Scalable Graphics, ScaleMP, Sun, Supermicro, Tyco Electronics, Voltaire, and Zarlink.
"Mellanox is proud to provide our industry leading 40Gb/s InfiniBand equipment to enable such a prestigious group of exhibitors to showcase the broad range of compelling options for server, storage and software solutions to Europe's most important IT professionals", stated John Monson, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. "Mellanox's interconnect technology continues to provide the foundation for leading clustering and storage systems, and our 40Gb/s InfiniBand solutions have shown the fastest adoption in the market due to our world-leading performance, reliability and efficiency."
The power of the 40Gb/s network will be highlighted by the Remote Desktop over InfiniBand (RDI) demonstration from Scalable Graphics. Each participating booth will be continuously receiving real-time, full resolution desktop content of all other connected computers. Attendees to the show will be able to select, move, and resize in real-time, the exhibitors' desktops.
"Thanks to the high bandwidth, low-latency 40Gb/s InfiniBand network, real-time remote desktop is now becoming a reality", stated Christophe Mion, chief technical officer at Scalable Graphics. "Our customers use RDI on a daily basis for remote maintenance and monitoring of their InfiniBand-connected server clusters, and with 40Gb/s InfiniBand it makes it nearly impossible to determine whether the desktop manipulated is local or remote."
The entire demo set-up was sponsored by the HPC Advisory Council, as part of the Council HPC outreach and advanced technological demonstrations. The HPC Advisory Council is an organisation that includes more than 80 members including leading commercial vendors and end-users, whose mission is to provide expertise and other resources that facilitate broader usage of HPC systems in government, education, industry, and research disciplines.
"This is the second major demonstration facilitated by the HPC Advisory Council to show advanced capabilities and concepts that can be delivered with the latest high-performance computing technologies", stated Gilad Shainer, chairman of the HPC Advisory Council. "We are planning to continue such large scale and cross vendor demonstrations in the future, and we thank the Council members who provided the resources and expertise to support these demonstrations." |
