The MTS 1000 leverages Lustre, an open source clustered file system and can be used over either Ethernet or InfiniBand networks so applications are not limited by their ability to read, write and store data rapidly. The MTS 1000 was designed to be easy to manage and deploy and delivers significant benefits to performance-driven computing environments, including:
- High availability metadata - Active - passive metadata architecture and RAID 10 configuration tuned for performance and reliability.
- Advanced monitoring: Ensures rapid failover when needed with no impact on running applications.
- High reliability: Integrated RAID controller with hot-swappable disk drives and redundant power supplies.
- High data throughput: Over 2 GB/sec with InfiniBand or 10GB Ethernet networks and over 575 MB/sec with Gigabit Ethernet in a single, 8U high enclosure.
- High capacity: Supports up to 40 TB per enclosure and up to 192 TB in a standard rack.
- Superior usable capacity: Up to 85% of raw capacity available for user data.
"Performance-driven computing environments have been held back by solutions that weren't designed specifically for the unique needs of these installations", stated Larry Genovesi, president and CEO of Terascala. "The MTS 1000 is the first appliance built to provide the high capacity, high throughput needed to help applications run at peak efficiency with built-in redundant metadata."
MTS 1000 enables applications to run at peak efficiency and was architected to deliver maximum throughput and data availability. With data stored in an optimized RAID 10 array linked directly to both processing units, the MTS 1000 is tuned for performance and reliability.
The MTS 1000 was developed with advanced monitoring and failover features to ensure that applications see no impact from unforeseen events within the storage environment. Delivered as an appliance, the MTS 1000 comes with all software installed and tuned for maximum performance and reliability. With its built-in management system, the MTS 1000 is designed to be operated and managed by system administrators without extensive storage experience, simplifying adding capacity and throughput or fine tuning aspects of the environment.
Terascala MTS 1000 will be demonstrated at the SC08 conference in Austin, Texas.
