Global scaling through a web-based interface combining NICE EnginFrame and Fujitsu SynfiniWay
Toulouse and Cortanze 13 June 2008 Fujitsu Systems Europe and NICE srl, Italy have launched a joint technology solution for distributed computing and data environments that combines Fujitsu's SynfiniWay, an innovative service-oriented IT framework, with the EnginFrame Grid portal from NICE, a leading-edge lightweight client web interface for HPC and compute intensive applications. This solution allows users to scale their activities across a global infrastructure, working through a customer-oriented browser interface on their desktop.

SynfiniWay provides a virtualized IT framework that removes the complexity associated with accessing dispersed and heterogeneous computational resources and data stores. Based on standards-compliant technologies, EnginFrame Grid Portal allows end-users anywhere to simply and effectively exploit the resources made accessible by SynfiniWay through an intuitive Web browser interface. This interface can be delivered with a host of customizable features, tailored to suit specific business needs and access rights.

For IT Managers who continually need to deliver top performance with finite compute resources this means that the joint EnginFrame and SynfiniWay solution offers further benefits, namely the ability to unlock the value of current distributed compute power and the number of accessible applications without adding more systems. SynfiniWay contains an advanced work flow engine to automate any user process. Orchestration of work flow tasks across the global framework is managed by the built-in meta-scheduler. Users connecting to the framework through EnginFrame will now be able to run workflows rather than just single jobs, and utilize the entire global resources for higher throughput.

Welcoming NICE into the Fujitsu SynfiniWay application enabling programme, Naoya Tamura, CEO of Fujitsu Systems Europe, stated: "SynfiniWay helps solve the escalating IT complexity confronting organisations dealing with increasing scale, from externalization of compute resource to offshore engineering and the extended enterprise. EnginFrame is a key component in the solution stack that allows end-users to fully benefit from this increased scale through the usability and flexibility of a best-of-breed Web-based interface."

Commenting on the service offering Beppe Ugolotti, CEO of NICE, stated: "NICE has a track record of delivering creative, flexible solutions for compute-intensive environments and problems across many sectors. By combining Fujitsu SynfiniWay with NICE EnginFrame we can now deliver customers an even more effective solution to enhance user productivity by extending the scope and power of their IT systems."
