UM-St. Louis IT Enterprises will provide a cross-discipline centre of excellence to serve academic and industry researchers requiring high-performance computing. It will include a facility that will house start-up companies in the high-growth field of information technology. High-performance computing resources will be provided to tenant companies, academic researchers and industry through its High-Performance Computing Center staffed by Ph.D. computer scientists and mathematicians, graduate students and UM-St. Louis leadership, who will be available for consultation on technology-related research problems.

"When I was asked to put together a comprehensive set of development tools that would allows users to take full advantage of the advanced capabilities of high-performance computing technology, I could not find anything that even came close to the power and simplicity offered by the TotalView Debugger", stated Professor Jerrold Siegel, Research Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at UM-St. Louis. "The TotalView Debugger is a critical tool for application development in challenging multi-core computing environments."

TotalView is the most advanced multi-core debugger for Linux, UNIX, and Mac OS X and is the market leader in C/C++, FORTRAN, UPC, MPI/OpenMP and parallel programming debugging. It was designed from the ground up to handle the complexities of the world's most demanding multi-processing applications that scale to thousands of processes and threads with applications distributed over multiple machines or processors. TotalView offers many advanced features, including multi-language support and built-in source code and memory debugging capabilities, which streamline and simplify the development process.

"We are pleased to be working with UM-St. Louis on the IT Enterprises project, as we believe high-performance computing will continue to shape the future", stated Chris Gottbrath, product manager at TotalView Technologies. "We support this effort to help facilitate the growth of high-performance computing in academic, research and industry."
